4.  PRICING, PACKING, SHIPPING AND INSURANCE

EVERY ITEM FOR SALE IS AT THE FAIR AND HONEST LOW PRICES SHOWN! NO HIDDEN EXTRAS, NO HIDDEN FEES, NO CATCHES AND NO NASTY SURPRISES! - JUST GOOD HONEST ITEMS AT FAIR AND HONEST PRICES AND WITH THE TYPE OF OLD FASHIONED EXCELLENT SERVICE YOU THOUGHT HAD DISAPPEARED FOREVER!  All our sale prices include strong professional packing and packaging and posting/mailing to either the UK, Europe or anywhere else in the world (including USA and Canada).  Insurance against loss in transit is FREE within the UK and is a recommended option for shipping/posting to everywhere else around the globe for most of our items. We do not offer postal insurance on items selling for less than £10 to £15 (US$20 to US$30) as it would make the item concerned too expensive.  We regret that items sent outside of the UK are not otherwise insured against any loss or damage in transit.

8. PHOTOGRAPHS

We do our best to ensure that we put good accurate photos of all our items within the listing, but if you should really need to see more photos, please send us a message with your email address and we will try to send additional photos to you.  Please also note that, sometimes, our digital camera cannot capture exactly the colour of an item - in such cases we do our level best to adjust the colour in the photo using our software, to try and best match up with the colour of the item. But this is not always possible and, where there is a significant colour difference between the photo and the actual item, we will usually point this out within the description of the item.

INTRODUCTION

On this page you will find the answers to most, if not ALL, of your questions and queries abour BEST BRITS and how our website works.  Everything we are  selling is carefully photographed, accurately described and priced before being placed in the a category of the site and every item has a PayPal "Add to Cart" button for whatever part of the world you live in (because of different postage costs).  Each item can be despatched to you within less than 2 working days of your payment being received!

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL NEW CUSTOMERS OF OUR BEST BRITS WEBSITE: When you buy your first item(s) from us, we will, very shortly afterwards, send you an email to thank you for your order(s). This email will also contain full contact details for both Robert and Lynne (we are the owners of BESTBRITS and of the EBAY Store and Auctions under our eBay User Name of BESTBRITS).  Our email to you will include our full names, email addresses and contact phone numbers for both of us.  For obvious security reasons we do not give out out our everyday email addresses and any contact phone numbers until someone has become a BESTBRITS customer.  We use a very safe Hotmail email address for any non-customer wishing to contact us with general questions - and this can be found on our "Contact Us" page.  When you make your payment through PayPal for your first purchase(s), you will automatically and immediately see Robert's full main contact email address in your PayPal account.  Once you have become a BESTBRITS customer, you can choose to contact us using any method you wish, including email, telephone or by writing to us.  We both live in East Sussex, UK - Robert in St Leonards on Sea and Lynne in Bexhill on Sea.  We have already had the pleasure of personal and very enjoyable meetings with a some of our customers.

 1. PAYMENT

All customers who buy item(s) from us by "Adding to your Shopping Cart" and then use PayPal's "Checkout" system, are requested to pay immediately through PayPal (or, at the very latest, within 12 hours of agreeing to buy by adding items to your "Shopping Cart".  We can only accept Paypal payments, but PayPal has many alternative ways to pay once you are in their "easy to use" system.  Of course, if you have added an item to your Shopping Cart, but not yet "Checked Out" and paid for the item(s), any other customer can come along during this period and may choose to buy and pay for the same item and you will have lost that item.  We delete all "Sold" items from the BESTBRITS website as soon as we can after your payment has been received to prevent mistakes occurring, or double-sales accidentally happening! (**See Refunds & Returns)

1.  POSTAGE DISCOUNTS FOR MULTIPLE PURCHASES

We will always give postage discounts when you buy more than one item from us at one time.  If you should choose to buy more than one item, please click the usual "Add to Basket" and View Cart" and "Check Out" buttons and pay for all your items in the normal way through PayPal.  As soon as your payment has cleared, we will calculate all of your Postage & Packing (P & P) charges, together with any additional optional insurance charges you may have chosen and will work out the refund due back to you.  We will then email you with the amount to be refunded to you through PayPal.  We will refund the total overcharge to you through your PayPal account as soon as you notify us of the safe recipt of all of your items.  Unfortunately, as yet, we have not got an automated system to recalculate Postage & Packing and insurance charges when someone makes multiple item purchases; we therefore feel that the system we now use is by far the fairest way to ensure you always get a full refund of overcharged P & P and insurance charges safely back into your PayPal account and everyone is happy with the transaction!

2.      BESTBRITS - Important Guidance BEFORE You BUY!ANCE

IMPORTANT!!! - PLEASE make sure you have read and understood the description of the item(s) and the cost of the Postage & Packing and Insurance BEFORE you agree to Buy one of our items!  Please also note that we ONLY ACCEPT PAYPAL PAYMENTS. We can, very occasionally, also accept payments from buyers by WESTERN UNION Money Transfer as the only alternative. This ensures that all our sales are safe, secure and trackable and all deliveries to you are super-fast!.

*We make all refunds of excess postage & packing charges through Paypal. If you do not have a Paypal account, we will send you a discount voucher for use against your next purchase from 'bestbrits'.

BUYERS FROM OUTSIDE OF THE UK: We only accept Paypal payments for all buyers through the BESTBRITS website. All payments should be made through PayPal immediately you agree to buy the goods. In exceptional circumstances we can accept other payment methods, usually only WESTERN UNION money transfer, provided this has been agreed with us by email and/or telephone before the item is purchased by you.

If, for any reason, you are unable to ensure that your payment reaches us within 24 hours, please send us an eMail message and we will try to accommodate you ~ SILENCE is NEVER golden!

 5. PACKING, POSTAGE, INSURANCE & SHIPPING

The Postage and Packing (P & P) charges shown within each item listing are always reasonable and are NOT negotiable - they include the actual cost of postage (including insurance - where provided), packaging materials (cardboard boxes, padded Jiffy bag envelopes, bubble wrap, brown paper, parcel tape, fragile stickers, airmail stickers etc), transport and the small fees we pay to the lady who does the packing and posting for us.  We use a very friendly, helpful and efficient third party to do almost all of our P & P services, as this enables us to provide a faster and more professional service to our customers.  We aim to post items to our buyers within 2 working days of cleared payment being received.  If, for any reason, we cannot post your item(s) within 2 days, we will eMail you to let you know when the item will be posted and the reason for the delay - such as sickness, foul weather etc.  If you buy two or more items from us we will usually always give P & P reductions. In the event that we have 'guesstimated' the cost of P & P, and we find that the actual cost to us was substantially less than that charged to you, the Buyer, we will make a refund to you of excess P & P charges - such refunds will be paid through Paypal*.

3.  PLEASE remember that only some of the items isted for sale in our BESTBRITS website may also be for sale in our Ebay auctions or in our Ebay shop.  So the first person to "Buy It Now" from the BESTBRITS website or our Ebay store or, if not, the winning bidder in the auction, WILL be the successful buyer of the item! So DON'T MISS OUT! - if it's something you really want, it's best to "BUY IT NOW" through our BESTBRITS website or, if not, to place your highest bid on the Ebay auction for the item - this way you will have the best chance of making sure you win the item!

6. COLLECTION IN PERSON

If an item is very large/heavy, exceptionally fragile or of a high value, we will be happy for the Buyer to call at our one of our own homes in East Sussex to collect the item in person.  This option is ONLY available where "Collection in Person" is listed as an option in the Postage & Packing section of the listing.  Such collections can ONLY be made by prior agreed appointment {date and time} as we do not reside full time at these residences and may have to make a special round trip of up to 50 miles to meet you there.  We regret that we cannot accept such collections for most of our items, particularly items with a value of less than £100.

7. COMMENTS & COMPLAINTS

If you have a comment or complaint about any of our items or services, please let us know immediately.  We will then 'move mountains' to resolve the issue to our mutual satisfaction.  We have a 100% perfect website customer satisfaction rating and a 100% perfect Ebay Feedback score because we value all of our customers and pride ourselves on our honesty and integrity.  We go the extra mile to try to describe all of our items as accurately as we can, clearly listing the item's condition and any observed damage.  But, we are only human, and mistakes may occur - if so, please let us know, so we can sort it out quickly and to your satisfaction.  Of course, if we have made an error in a description of an item that dramatically affects the value or integrity of an item, we will gladly refund your purchase price after safe return of the item(s) back to us.

9. * * REFUNDS & RETURNS

We post everything within the UK by either Recorded Delivery or Special Delivery.  Please note that items sent by Recorded Delivery are only insured against loss (ie, the item was never delivered).  In such a case, we will have to make a claim through the Royal Mail and will refund your purchase price for the item once we have received the refund from the Royal Mail.  Please bear in mind that Royal Mail refunds can take up to 3 to 6 months to resolve!  Purchasers are, of course, welcome to make their own claim against the Royal Mail, provided that you send on to us any Royal Mail refund of P & P costs.

Of course, in the highly unlikely event of someone buying an item from the BESTBRITS website and paying for it and, before we have had a chance to delete the item from the website, someone else also buys and pays for the item, we will of course make an apology and a full refund to the second buyer.  This has never happened, but we want to reassure you that we have systems in place to properly handle such an occurrence.

We take great pains to ensure that every item is well protected and packaged before it is posted.  However, if the item is damaged due to an error by us in the way it was packed, we will refund your purchase price after the damaged item has been returned to us, or we have seen photographic or other evidence to satisfy us that the item was damaged as a result of the way in which it was packed.  If the item is deemed by us to have been damaged due to abuse by the Royal Mail, there is not much we as the Sellers can do - we would then expect the buyer of the item to make a claim against the Royal Mail for damage in transit.

If the item has been sent within the UK by Special Delivery or Parcelforce 48, then it is insured against both loss and damage.  In such cases, we will work with you to make a claim against the Royal Mail - but please again bear in mind that this can be a long and time-consuming process!  Generally, if we agree to make a full or partial refund of your purchase price, we will not be able to make any refund of P & P charges, unless we have made an error in the listing which significantly affects the value of an item, in which case we will refund ALL of your costs.

10. EBAY FEEDBACK (FOR USERS OF OUR EBAY STORE AND AUCTIONS ONLY)

We will give excellent Positive Feedback to all of our eBay Buyers - usually within 48 hours of you giving Positive Feedback to us.  We have only twice felt the need to give Negative Feedback to anyone on Ebay during our six years of Ebay experience - only 2 'Negatives' out of 2,000+ sales.  This is because Negative Feedback should ONLY be given as a LAST RESORT - e.g. when a Seller has lied or told significant untruths about an item; or the article is a fake; or when the Seller has failed to send the item at all, despite repeated requests and reminders, and payment has not been refunded - please note that we would NEVER treat our customers this way!  Likewise, we would usually never give Negative Feedback to a Buyer, unless they had defrauded us in some way or had not paid us for an item and had not made contact with us since they won the item.  If a Buyer has not paid for an item within 7 days and has not made any contact with us, we may have to relist the item or offer it to the next highest bidder.  In such cases, we may have no option but to give Negative Feedback to the non-paying bidder involved.  At the heart of the Ebay community is the ethos of trust, coupled with honesty and good communications between members - any problem can be rectified if you contact us - let us know why your payment will be delayed and when to expect it and we can work with you to reach a happy conclusion to the sale. 

INSURANCE ~ IMPORTANT NOTE:

If the item is sent to a buyer who lives outside of the UK then, unless the buyer has paid for and requested the optional insurance at the time of payment, the item cannot be refunded or returned, regardless of whether it was lost or damaged.

4.  We can and do accept sensible offers from our customers for certain of our items currently for sale.  If you want to make us an offer, please email us (using the CONTACT US page) as soon as you can with the following details:

a. The BESTBRITS website Item Number

b. The BESTBRITS website Item Selling Price

c. The BESTBRITS website item title (for example: "c1890 sterling silver cigar cutter")

c. Your offer (in UK Pounds Sterling) you would like to make (excluding the usual Packing and Postage/Mailing Charges (WHICH WILL BE AS SHOWN WITH EACH ITEM AND ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE)

d. Your full name, email address and your country of residence

We will then get back to you with our decision on your offer as quickly as we can - usually well within 24 hours of receiving your email - you must then buy and pay for the item at the agreed discounted price within 6 hours of our email confirming acceptance of your offer.  BUT, Please Remember - if someone else decides to buy the item for the full Selling Price during this time, we regret that the item must then be sold to that other customer - this is the only honest and fair way we can do this!
